The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) has awarded the prestigious 2010 Large Business Award to TolTest for outstanding small business subcontracting performance in support of Department of Defense programs. TolTest Small Business Liaison Officer (SBLO) Alvin E. Brown has also been recognized by SAME as the recipient of the Small Business Industry Advocate Award.
TolTest received the Large Business Award based on the firm’s advocacy efforts and continuing commitment to Small Business Concerns (SBCs). Under the direction of the firm’s SBLO and top management, TolTest continues to enhance its pool of qualified and capable small business vendors, suppliers and subcontractors through in-house training and participation in conferences and events involving SBCs. TolTest is also an active participant in the Small Business Administration (SBA) Mentor-Protégé program.
Since joining TolTest in 2001, Mr. Brown has used his 30 years of experience in federal contracting to promote opportunities for small businesses as teaming partners, subcontractors, service vendors, and material suppliers. As the TolTest SBLO, Mr. Brown works to ensure procurement packages are structured to permit SBCs to participate to the maximum extent possible and provides in-house training to project management and procurement personnel. He also promotes attendance at business opportunity workshops, minority business enterprises, trade fairs, and conferences to attract and retain qualified small business subcontractors and teaming partners.
TolTest President Ernest C. Enrique, PE, will accept the Large Business Award from SAME at the organization’s annual Small Business Conference, December 8, in Grapevine, Texas.
